So, for those of you who haven't heard, I got the job at Radio Shack!!
I went to a training meeting on Monday (yes, I got paid for sitting on my butt and zoning out to a boring "History of RadioShack" lecture for 3 hours. haha)
Today was my first day in the store. I worked from 1-5. It actually went really fast. I basically just did a few packets to help familiarize myself with the store, it's products, and it's policies.
The icky thing is, I have to work from 11-7 both tomorrow and Friday. I haven't ever worked an 8 hour day (Dominos wasn't too big on long days) ...even when I was in school I was only there from 730 until 11 or so...
To say the least, I'm nervous!! lol
I guess it's alright because I get two 15 minute paid breaks and 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
That should help out a bit...but still!!
Anyway, more about my job.
Today Jeff and Shalia were there. Shalia is really cool! I'm pretty sure she's the head associate. (Meaning she's the only person in the store who has as much power as the manager when the manager has the day off or something) She's so funny!! She has so much energy..I'm not really sure it's even possible to have that much energy...haha. She is always so pleasant with the customers who come in and she knows everything about every product in the store. All of her customers leave with a big smile and an arm full of shopping bags :D.
Jeff is my manager. He's way cool too. He's more of a "strict, down to business" type of guy. I'm not really sure if he gets my humor or not, but that doesn't stop me from cracking jokes about anything and everything. lol He laughs every once in a while, so I guess that counts for something. I'm a little intimidated by him still, but whenever I have a question he gladly drops everything to show me exactly how to do something. Plus, he made me feel better about asking questions by telling me that he usually asks the same question 4 or 5 times until the concept really sticks with him.
I'm thinking tomorrow I'll probably (hopefully) work with David. He's the only other person who works in our store, besides myself. I actually went to high school with him last year. He was a senior when I was a junior so I never really talked to him, but I'm pretty sure I had a class or two with him because he looks very familliar. I met him breifly when I went in the store to interview with Jeff. He seems really nice, but kind of quiet. Hopefully he'll warm up and be as open and talkative as Shalia is.
Well that's enough about my work. I'm gonna go hang out with Sean for a while or something.
Ciao

Hey, that's great news. Landing a job is not easy these days so you've got to pat yourself on the back a little. You'll be amazed how fast the day will go if you keep yourself busy. And then, they pay you for being there. Can't beat that. Congratulations!
Yeah Erica! You're a working stiff now so make sure you take lots of naps and make your dad clean up after you and cook for your more now! Ha ha. Congratulations on the job! You'll be great!
